The Department of Correctional Services has denied that alleged cop killer Zane Kilian was moered by inmates in Goodwood Prison.
According to several sources, Kilian “was stabbed and his head bashed in” on Wednesday for allegedly being involved in a murder on their turf.
The former rugby player, who is in the mang for his alleged role in the murder of top cop Lieutenent-Colonel Charl Kinnear, returned to the Bellville Regional Court on Tuesday for his bail hearing.
Kilian, 39, was charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder and the illegal interception of Kinnear’s cellphone after the officer was shot dead outside his Bishop Lavis home on 18 September last year.
According to one well-placed source, Kilian came under attack by angry members of the 28s prison gang.
He was allegedly stabbed and suffered head injuries.
However, Correctional Services spokesperson, Singabakho Nxumalo, denies this saying: “The Department of Correctional Services (DCS) is being inundated with enquiries on remand detainee Zain Kilian being assaulted.
“It must be stated that inmate Kilian has NOT been assaulted nor injured. He remains in our care and his safety, like all other inmates and officials, is a priority as per the mandate of corrections.”
This comes just one day after the Hawks revealed that Kilian had revealed the identity of the man who paid him to ping Kinnear’s phone.
According to an affidavit by Captain Pieter Joubert, Kilian initially claimed he was paid by “Muhammed” to track his jolling wife.
However, he later admitted that Mohammed did not exist and that he knew some of the numbers he was tracking belonged to police officers.
Kilian told the Hawks that the ping requests were made by “Mr X”.
The identity of Mr X was not revealed at court.
The affidavit confirms that Kilian also pinged the cellphone of alleged Sexy Boys gang boss, Jerome Booysen, and drew Consumer Trace Reports on Kinnear’s widow, Nicolette.
To which an angered Nicolette wrote: “I feel violated, robbed...and so so angry...”
The investigation continues.
