FAIL: R350 beneficiaries still waiting FAIL: R350 beneficiaries still waiting

If you are one of the millions of applicants who has been declined, you can send an email to: [email protected].

Sassa has also said that it will on a monthly basis reassess all applications to ensure that where circumstances have changed, or an income is received from any other source, the grant will not continue.

Millions of people have not been paid their R350 grant, which is aimed at assisting unemployed South Africans who receive no other financial assistance from the government.

Minister Lindiwe Zulu has said that she understood that people were frustrated with the slow pace, but they were doing their best.

Dear Minister Zulu, putting out media statements like these and constantly apologising means very little to the households who are literally starving.

We know that this might seem far-fetched in your world of highly paid politicians, but R350 affords a family a bread every day.

It isn’t nearly enough to survive, but it is better than nothing.

Sadly, your department has not only failed in the paying out of these grants, but in its service around it as well.

I called the Sassa office in the Western Cape on behalf of someone who had applied and was still awaiting feedback.

I was on hold for nearly 30 minutes listening to Beatles music and some insincere message, before the line just went dead.

By the grace of God, I had airtime.

How many people awaiting their grants or who have a query about it have the airtime to be on hold for 30 minutes?

A friend of mine eventually received notification to go and collect his R350 at the Post Office.

He stood in line (first outside in the cold) for hours, because there was only one teller available.

You and your department are in the service of the public.

You are not doing us any favours.

Start respecting the people who put you in power and do what you are supposed to do, which is to deliver!

We are tired and gatvol of your excuses now.
