- 1kg cake flour
- 10g yeast
- 30ml sugar
- 7ml salt
- Extra flour for kneading
- Oil for greasing and deep frying and, about 300ml lukewarm water
Mix the flour, salt, sugar and yeast together in a mixing bowl.
Make a well in the centre and pour in the lukewarm water, mixing with a wooden spoon.
Add water until you have a soft dough.
Sprinkle flour on a clean dry surface and knead for 10min until dough is smooth.
Grease a big bowl with oil, place dough inside and cover.
Place in a warm place for an hour to rise.
Shape balls of dough to your preference.
Grease a baking tray and place balls on them.
Heat oil in a deep pan or fry balls till golden brown, flipping often to ensure they are evenly fried, and karadaa!
Usually mense go for mince curry on a vetkoek, but is lekker soema net so. The trick is to have it immediately after frying. Vuurwarm, with butter and apricot jam and/or cheese.
