Moehydien Pangaker's arrest in connection with the kidnapping and murder of Tazne van Wyk, 8, has angered her family as well as her community with mense questioning how a convicted murderer ended up back on the streets.
Pangaker has been incarcerated five times, twice in Pollsmoor Prison.

The records show that the man accused of snatching Tazne just metres from her home in Clare Street in Ravensmead on February 7, was charged with the murder of his toddler son in Ladismith in 2001.

- Ladismith: 2003: assault: sentenced
- Elsies River: 2003: breaking correctional supervision: guilty
- Ladismith: 2015: possession of stolen vehicle, guilty and sentenced
- Ladismith: 2015: driving vehicle without authority: guilty.
In 2008 Pangaker was sentenced at Bellville Regional Court for kidnapping, child abuse and culpable homicide.
He was sentenced to 10 years for count 3 with count 12 concurrent with count 3. He was released on parole but absconded at Bellville Community Corrections in 2015.
Pangaker was placed out on parole supervision at Ladismith Community Corrections on 16 October 2016 - till 18 May 2019. He then also absconded supervision and a case was opened at Ladismith for absconding.

Meanwhile a video of Pangaker being taken to hospital in chains has gone viral on social media.
The video surfaced hours after he appeared in the Goodwood Magistrate’s Court where Pangaker's legal aid lawyer told Magistrate Bukiwe Sambudla he was allegedly moered by police.
The video shows Pangaker, who told the court he had not received medical treatment, walking in chains through the hospital corridor.
