Ajax Cape Town are facing an uncertain future after upsetting their Amsterdam parent club.
The Urban Warriors are leading the NFD race for promotion to the PSL this season, but will have to do so without the coach who got them there after Andries Ulderink quit on Friday.
Dutchman Ulderink left in protest to Head of Football, Hans Vonk, being suspended indefinitely by Cape CEO Ari Efstathiou for “serious charges of misconduct”.
Efstathiou on Monday released a statement saying that he accepted Ulderink’s resignation because he would not let Ajax be blackmailed.
PROTESTED: Andries Ulderink
However, it seems that their Dutch shareholders don’t share the same point of view as the Cape chairman.
According to an Ajax spokesperson quoted by Sport24 , the Amsterdammers say: “As a major shareholder, we are dissatisfied with the recent developments and what has been communicated by Ajax Cape Town.
“In our view, Andries Ulderink and Hans Vonk were doing an excellent job. That can also be seen in the upward trend that has been underway since Ulderink has been the head coach and Vonk appointed as head of football affairs.
“We will discuss this further with Ajax Cape Town and won’t be commenting further and would like to reiterate that promotion to the first division remains the top priority.”
Ajax’s next assignment is tomorrow night’s Nedbank Cup last-32 clash against TS Sporting at Athlone Stadium (kickoff 7.30pm).
