Kaapstad, prepare yourself to lag you in your chops for a good cause this weekend.
The Rangers Rugby Club is hosting a comedy night at the Darul Islam Hall in Surrey Estate on Friday, starting at 8pm.
The lagbol show is titled Die Kaap is Viral and features a variety of Cape Town’s internet comedy stars.
The funds which will be raised from this event is important to the club because it will contribute immensely to their growth, and push them to the next level, says spokesperson Ismael Abrahams.
The monies will be used to pay some of the coaches’ salaries as they have now started to employ professionals to help up their game.
Rangers is a community-based club closely linked to the mosque in Surrey Estate. Whatever they do is for the community and with the community in mind, and this is why they managed to keep the ticket price to the event down to only R100, says Mr. Abrahams.
He urges the community of Surrey Estate and Cape Town at large to come out and support them in their numbers, let their hair down and get rid of their stress with the promised minute-by-minute belly laughs.
The club has been in existence for over 50 years and with fundraising and community building events like this, they are hoping to be around for at least another five decades.
They boast an abundance of natural sporting talent, born and bred on the Flats of the Cape Peninsula.
It is clear when speaking to the directors of this club that their aim is to nurture the raw talent from these areas so that they one day can make a meaningful and positive impact in society.
Die Kaap is Viral is produced by LOL Productions, which has managed to assemble a cast that have made a name for themselves on social media with many LOL moments over the past few months.
