Antoine Griezmann put Diego Simeone's side ahead after 16 minutes turning in Diego Costa's cross.
Thomas Partey doubled the advantage on 29 minutes with a low drive from distance.

"Despite the result we kept going for the 90 minutes and that has to be the attitude going forward."
Atletico scorer Partey, who is still not a first team regular, celebrated his goal admitting: "The harder I work the more chances I am going to have to play."
Earlier Tuesday Espanyol made it three home wins out of three so far this season when they beat Eibar 1-0.

Jon Bautista gave Real Sociedad the lead on five minutes but when goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli dropped a cross, Luis Advincula was able to equalize.
Oscar Trejo gave Rayo the lead from the penalty spot but Willian Jose salvaged a point with 12 minutes left.
Under-fire keeper Rulli, who also made mistakes in Real Sociedad's recent defeat to Barcelona said: "I will turn the whistles into applause. I only have one thought in mind which is to take this [situation] forward."
