Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo has been given a

one-game Champions League ban for being red carded in the match

against Valencia earlier this month, European ruling body UEFA said

Thursday.

Ronaldo was given a controversial red card for seemingly tugging the

hair of Valencia defender Jeison Murillo in the first half of a game

Juventus eventually won 2-0.

The five-time Champions League winner Ronaldo will miss Juventus'

next game in the competition at home to Young Boys of Switzerland on

October 2 but will be eligible for the trip to former

club Manchester United three weeks later.
