South Africa's Chad le Clos claimed second place in the men's 200m freestyle on day three of the Swimming World Cup in Eindhoven, Netherlands,  on Sunday.

American Blake Pieroni took victory in 1:41.83 with Le Clos touching the wall in 1:42.20

The 26-year-old added another silver in the men's 50m butterfly, as he was edged by the smallest of margins. Brazil's Nicholas Santos won in 22.08 seconds with Le Clos agonisingly close to victory in 22.09.

"Seasons best times tonight, even with 2 silvers - still happy with swim," tweeted Le Clos afterwards.

"Thanks to the Dutch fans and everyone back home for the support much love."

Earlier in the three-day event, Le Clos tasted victory in the men's 100m and 200m freestyle events.

The fourth meet of the 2018 edition of the Swimming World Cup will take place in Budapest, Hungary, from Thursday to Saturday.

Le Clos now finds himself seventh on the men's overall rankings heading into the final event. The 2012 Olympic gold medalist won the overall title in 2011, 2013, 2014 and 2017.
