THREAT: Jan Riekerink THREAT: Jan Riekerink

According to reports, Cape Town City boss John Comitis already wants to get rid of coach Jan Olde Riekerink.

The Dutchman took over from Benni McCarthy, who was sacked in November last year, and has failed to make a big impact since, with the former Galatasaray boss failing to win over the players as the club fight relegation.

Now rumour has it that Comitis is apparently in talks with ex-City coach Eric Tinkler about a

possible return.

Both men have since denied the reports.

Asked if Tinkler was returning to the Mother City to coach, Comitis tells Kickoff: “For a holiday to Cape Town, not more than that.

“Unless he is joining our friends [Ajax Cape Town] if they get promoted.

“I haven’t heard, maybe to Ajax.”

Tinkler, meanwhile, says: “This is all rumours and I don’t respond to rumours.

“I have a contract with Maritzburg and that’s it.”

Tinkler was the man Comitis first gave the reins of the club to when he founded the club in 2016.

The former Bafana Bafana midfielder led them to the Telkom Knockout title within six months and a Confederations Cup berth before abruptly leaving for SuperSport United at the end of the season.
