Despite having a series of meetings this week, the key men in the Premier League remain divided on Project Restart.

With Monday’s deadline for approval around the corner, emotions are

running high as the league makes its final plans to resume on June 12.

So deurmekaar is die plannetjies nou that they are even talking about starting a week later.

The biggest opposition to returning to play in the midst of the the global coronavirus pandemic seems to come from the players.

Brighton striker Glenn Murray is the latest Premier League star to add his voice to the likes of Newcastle defender Danny Rose, Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling and Liverpool’s Divock Origi to name a few.

Murray says: “Football is certainly not a necessity. It’s a game and it’s a sport.

“I can’t understand why after just

loosening the lockdown why we’re in such a rush to get it back.

“Can’t we wait a month and see what happens. Why can’t we wait to see what happens, rather than start an unnecessary sport when people are dying.”

Vir sulke mense het Tottenham coach Jose Mourinho nie baie tyd saam gebring nie, and the self-proclaimed Special One wants to welcome ex-club Manchester United to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in what will possibly be the first game of the restart.

He adds of possibly returning: “I want to train, and I am desperate for the Premier League to return as soon as it is safe to do so, particularly now we are seeing other leagues preparing to return to action.

“Every player has been extremely

committed in terms of their individual work and now we wait for clearance to commence working in small groups again, which I will fully support.”
