Three PSL referees have tested positive for Covid-19 ahead of the league’s restart on August 8.
The South African Football Association (Safa) match officials have been in camp since last Friday as they ready for the busy schedule to complete the PSL, NFD and Nedbank Cup.
And Safa Chief Medical and Compliance Officer Dr Thulani Ngwenya confirmed in a statement yesterday: “Only three refs tested positive for Covid-19 but are all asymptomatic.
“We are monitoring them on a daily basis and they are quarantining on the other wing of the hotel.”
Ngwenya, though, is confident that they and the rest of the officials will be fit and ready once the season resumes next weekend, with the Nedbank Cup semfinals on August 8 before the league kicks off on the 11th.
