VERSATILE: Gabriel Jesus, righ
Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus says he is willing to play in any position ahead of Sunday’s 5.30pm Prem blockbuster against log leaders Liverpool.
Jesus was inked in as a right winger when he scored the only goal in last weekend’s 1-0 league win over Chelsea, and the striker says he will hug the touchline again if that’s required.
City’s Player of the Month says: “When I started playing football, I started as a winger – mostly on the right, but also on the left.
“It’s good for me and good for the team, because I can play three positions. I can help my team.”
Having played off the bench in their 2-0 midweek Champions League defeat to PSG, Jesus says he is ready to start if called upon.
He says: “I am ready, I train all the time and work hard to get a chance. We have a lot ot top players at the club [so competition for places is stuff].”
While City have lost their Champions League match 2-0, the Reds beat Porto 5-1.
Midfielder Jordan Henderson knows the second-placed Cityzens will provide a different challenge and says: “[It’s going to be] a really tough game at the weekend [against] a fantastic side… it will be an intense game and we need to just give everything like we always do.”
Teammate Fabinho adds: “A performance like [the once against Porto] just gives us more confidence for the future...
“These are the kind of games every player likes to play. We just have to play our football, to give everything and we know the fans will be with us.”
