Newcastle captain Jamal Lascelles reckons “nobody is going to match our intensity” at St James’ Park ahead of Borussia Dortmund’s Champions League visit on Wednesday at 9pm.
Back at Europe’s top table for the first time in 20 years, the Magpies are top of Group F with four points on the back of a 4-1 win over PSG and a opening-day goalless draw with AC Milan.
With 17 goals scored and four conceded in their five wins in six home games across all competitions this season, defender Lascelles is confident they can win their first meeting with the Germans.

Previewing the game in the club’s match programme, he says: “Coming here, nobody is going to match our intensity… as well as the fans' desire and how loud they are.
“As a human being, it doesn't matter how good you are - it’s intimidating.
“Then it's down to us as players to start the games fast.”
Dortmund come to Tyneside bottom of the group with just a point but ace Julian Brandt skrik vir niks, saying: “Even though they [Newcastle] produced a very good performance against PSG, we must go there full of confidence.”
Meanwhile, holders Manchester City go to Swiss minnows Young Boys looking to maintain their 100-percent win record at the top of Group G in a 9pm kickoff.
🗣️ "I'm in a team that I love being a part of. I love coming in and playing with this group of players every day."
