STORMERS coach John Dobson says something’s brewing at Cape Town Stadium.

It’s here where his team has turned on the style over the last couple of weeks to resurrect their once-ailing United Rugby Championship campaign.

With a narrow 34-29 win over Irish side Connacht followed by a 56-5 demolition of Italy’s Benetton, the Stormers have almost quietly moved up to sixth place on the log and binne-in die eight-team playoff spots.

With two rounds left to play, starting with Saturday's 6.15pm clash against Wales’ last-placed Dragons, Dobson is starting to dream.

And with 18 474 fans egging them on at their home stadium last week and 18 211 the week before against Connacht, Dobson says: “There is something brewing.

“You see the amount of blue in the crowd, jerseys, not just flags. It’s just going up and up and up. It’s becoming like a soccer crowd. They are fully invested.

“It was a great crowd for the Benetton game, a really good experience and we entertained them, which is our theme for the season.

“We are playing rugby that suits our DNA and the people resonate with it and they are coming along. It’s a really good space with the crowd numbers.”

With Cardiff coming to town in the final week of regular season, Dobson says of their chances of playing in the playoffs: “If we keep going like we are, I think we will finish fifth and stay local in the quarter-finals.

“We will go to Durban to face the Sharks, which is something we will do with great relish. That derby would be a nice one for us.”

Dobson will announce his team for the clash on Friday.
