DEFENDING SA20 champions MI Cape Town have not given up hope of successfully defending their title this term.
This, despite coach Robin Peterson’s team not having won a match to date.
MI CT’s latest defeat was a seven-wicket pak slae suffered at the hands of neighbours Paarl Royals on Sunday.
That defeat made it five matches without a win for captain Rashid Khan, who are sitting heel laaste on the log.
With six teams in the running for the top four spots, Khan is confident that his span still has a shot at making the playoffs this year.
They have a vrag big names in their squad, with Ryan Rickelton currently the top scorer in the tournament playing alongside the likes of Trent Boult, Corbin Bosch, Reeza Hendricks, Kagiso Rabada, Rassie van der Dussen and George Linde to name a few.
Hosting Joburg Super Kings at Newlands tonight at 5.30pm, Khan said after losing to the Royals: ““Quite disappointing, to be honest. Not the kind of cricket champion teams play. Good it happened earlier rather than later and we still have an opportunity to qualify.
“We didn’t play as good as we can. This franchise has a brand of cricket that we didn't do. We were a little bit defensive and got stuck.”
Fans can expect the Capetonians to come out guns blazing tonight as they aim to fight for survival.
