THE search for the next Manchester United manager is in full swing and former Red Devils are rekking their bek about who they want to see in charge at Old Trafford.

Darren Fletcher will be the man in the hotseat when the sixth-placed United travel to 19th-placed Burnley in the Premier League tomorrow night.

But Fletcher - a former United player himself - has only been appointed as interim boss.

Who exactly will take over from him remains open to debate at this stage.

United icon Nicky Butt knows who he doesn’t want it to be and says if Enzo Maresca is appointed to the Old Trafford hotseat, he will return his season ticket.

Of Maresca, who left his job at Chelsea last week, possibly taking over, Butt said on The Good, The Bad and The Football podcast: “If Maresca comes in - I like him as a coach, I really do - with the background, I would give my season tickets back.”

Butt then added: “I can’t sit here and go on about Man United philosophy and DNA and then go, ‘Well I'd love Maresca, an ex-Man City guy’. Then you have Omar Berrarda and Jason Wilcox.

“I don't care how much success is. You’re forgetting where I'm from. Everyone is a City fan. I’m a Man United fan and I can't accept that.”

Maresca, who was an assistant coach at City under Pep Guardiola, is one of a number of names being thrown around for the vacant position.

Crystal Palace coach Oliver Glasner, former England manager Gareth Southgate, Aston Villa mentor Unai Emery, England coach Thomas Tuchel, former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino, Spain’s Andoni Iraola are all being mentioned as possible candidates.
