Cape Town City have no other option but to fight their way out of trouble.
That’s the way midfielder Thabo Nodada sees their situation, with the Citizens one point off the foot of the PSL table.
After seeing Benni McCarthy fired after two wins in the 18 matches, new coach Jan Olde Riekerink’s record is not looking so great either with just one win from his eight games in charge.
The situation is getting more desperate now and Nodada is hoping his teammates realise that relegation is a very real threat. And he knows that title-chasing Wits at Cape Town Stadium this Sunday (3.30pm) is going to be as tough as any
challenge they will face this season.
The 24-year-old says: “We’re expecting them to play like they are going for the title, for one. We’re also expecting them to play like they’ve played four matches in 10 days.
“We’re expecting them to be physical. A lot of fight, a lot of hunger and determination.
“And we’re expecting a fight. And a fight for a win. A fight for one point. A fight for a header, for a tackle. A fight. We’re expecting a fight.
“We don’t have any other option.”

Asked how City can turn their fortunes around, the KZN-born star insists they must start believing in themselves.
He says: “I have to give the coach credit for his positivity. “Like [assistant] coach Vasili [Manousakis] says ‘You don’t become a bad player overnight. We need to rediscover that arrogance again.
“When the opposition wakes up in the morning they need to worry because they know they are playing against Thabo. We need that character and arrogance back in our game.”
