THE Proteas will be fired up after suffering two consecutive defeats to New Zealand when the two teams meet in the T20 tri-series final in Harare on Saturday (1pm start).

In their first meeting, South Africa fell short by 21 runs in a match where their top order collapsed early, despite a late recovery attempt.

New Zealand’s bowlers, particularly the spinners, choked the Proteas in the middle overs. In the second clash, the result was more one-sided – the Black Caps chased down a swak target with seven wickets in hand, exposing the Proteas’ bowling vulnerabilities at the death. Heading into tomorrow’s final, SA will be eager to change that run.

With pride at stake, this young Proteas team – led by Rassie van der Dussen – has a chance to make a groot statement.
