THE Proteas have almost left South Africa flying under the radar for the T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.
But they started with a bang on Monday, beating Canada by 57 runs to win their first Group D match.
Next on the menu is a match against Afghanistan at 7.30am on Wednesday in Ahmedabad.
Big hitter David Miller, though, says the span is so kalm soos ‘n psalm ahead of the clash against the Afghans, who lost to New Zealand by five wickets in their opener.
After losing to India in the 2024 T20 World Cup final, Miller says SA are a lot calmer this time around.
Asked about the atmosphere in the team, Miller explained: “It is definitely calmness. The squad has played together for a number of years.
“It’s just about having faith and trust in each other – not trying to do too much out of the box.
“You have to make sure you do your job and get it done properly. It comes with time – we played a lot together and the guys are focused.
“We will take it one day at a time and make sure we build on the 2024 final that we lost – we take confidence from that. Hopefully we can take one step further.”
Of playing Rashid Khan and his brasse at the Narendra Modi Stadium – where they beat Canada – again, Miller added: “It feels like we’ve got home conditions.
“We’ve been here for a couple days and we are here for another week, so it’s to look after that and be strategic and tactical about it. The guys are all playing some really good cricket, so it’s going to be great games [against Afghanistan and New Zealand on Saturday].”
