PROTEAS captain Aiden Markram is heel in sy skik with how his team is performing at the T20 World Cup.
Markram led from the front on Saturday as South Africa chased down New Zealand’s 175/7 with seven wickets left and 2.5 overs to spare.
It was a statement of intent from Markram’s span, as man of the match Marco Jansen took 4/40, with his skipper then finishing the job with a breathtaking 86 not out off 44 balls.
The win meant SA are heel bo in Group D after three wins from as many games, with their next match being against the UAE on Wednesday.
Of how they are improving in India, Markram said of coach Shukri Conrad’s manskappe: “We were definitely a lot closer to the fullest of potential.
“I thought pretty much all areas were really good. And again, I think it just came from clarity and conviction in plans or that ball you’re going to bowl or the approach you’re going to take towards a certain bowler with the bat.
“It’s nice to see the boys slowly but surely improving, getting better and better. And [against New Zealand it] was all around a really good performance.
“As a batting unit, you want to take the powerplay on. That’s what all teams are doing now and it would be silly not to try and do the same.
“If it comes off, fortunately it looks pretty good, but there’ll be days where it doesn’t and then you rely a bit more on your middle-order batters. But the wickets have been really good for us and because of that, I think you can get off to some good starts.”
