Deadly attacker Mo Salah will be hoping to be the man that finally shoots down Premier League leaders Manchester City after being declared fit for Sunday’s clash (6pm).
The Egyptian ace is back from a groin injury that saw him miss the Reds’ last two games.
The African Player of the Year was back in training at Liverpool alongside former City striker Daniel Sturridge ahead of the trip to Eastlands.
With 23 goals in all competitions, Salah has proved a bargain since joining from Roma for just £35m in July.
His 17 goals in the Prem put him one goal behind Tottenham’s Harry Kane in the race for the Golden Boot.
But his strike rate of a goal every 94 minutes of play is the best of the top five hitmen in the league.
Salah also has the best percentage of shots on target with 62.
With Philippe Coutinho completing his £142m move to Barcelona this week, Salah will be more instrumental as ever as he also boasts five assists.
But the man who will likely step into Coutinho’s role as playmaker is Adam Lallana after his recent return from injury.
And teammate Joe Gomez believes that the England man will lead the press on Pep Guardiola’s manne this weekend.
Defender Gomez says: “He always gets it right. That doesn’t just mean running, it’s timing,” explains Gomez, a teammate of the midfielder since the summer of 2015.
“He senses it; like a shark when they see blood, they attack. He sees when there’s an iffy pass or the weight of pass is off or someone has a dodgy touch, he is going to punish you quickly.”
