There is a fire at Ikamva! Run, run.
I’m still shook by coach Andries Ulderink’s sudden resignation at Ajax Cape Town.
The coach resigned last Friday after backing technical director Hans Vonk, who was suspended by chairman Ari Efstathiou because of gross misconduct.
Ai man, the Dutch coach really had something going there at Ikamva and they looked like they had a feel for getting things done in those crazy conditions in the NFD
The big concern, though, is not who comes in next, but rather how Efstathiou handles the situation from now on.
IN THE SPOTLIGHT: Ajax CEO Ari Efstathiou
One possibility is to dig into their resource pool.
They have a hele klomp ex-stars that can make a difference at the club
Here Steven Pienaar, Moeneeb Josephs, Shane Potgieter, Nathan Paulse, Gareth Ncaca, Andile Sixaba come to mind.
It’s too much. They could even go heeltemal bos and reach out to Benni McCarthy.

As it stands, Calvin Marlin is the assistant coach.
Here’s a thought: why not promote Marlin to the big job?
He is very much part of the process and has a good relationship with the players.
Maybe he can even test some of the ideas the previous coach did not take on.
Then there is also Matthew Booth, he holds a certain status within the club.

And this might be the time to get Booth’s hands dirty as the new Head of Youth with the view of growing into one of the top office jobs.
CEO of parent club Ajax Amsterdam Edwin van der Sar went a similar route, starting out with coaching the goalkeepers despite not having an official position in the technical team.
So there you have it, Ajax, take some time to clean your house and bring back some Urban Warriors legends.
