LOUW Nel reckons he and his Western Province manskap have shaken off the rust and reg to bag some log points when they tackle Griquas in Friday's 3pm Currie Cup clash in Kimberley.
Province are sitting on zero Premier Division points after losses to the Bulls and Lions, respectively, and have the difficult task of facing a Griquas span that have earned a fearsome reputation at home.
The Kwaste also have their tails up after a 48-39 win against the Boland Cavaliers.
But, Louw is looking forward to the challenge at Griqua Park and wysed: “Personally for me it is a great privilege to play in this jersey, so I am looking forward to Friday.
“We have a lot of respect for Griquas. They are a well-coached team. And we know it is a difficult task to go and play in Kimberley.
“But this is a great opportunity to go out there and represent the union with pride. We are looking forward to go and do that.”
And of making sure they leave Kimberley with more than just improvement but also bag some valuable points, the flank added: “It is important for us to get those points this weekend. I think we have the potential. We have learned from our mistakes in the first two games and what we need to do better.
“I have full confidence that we will be able to go out and do it.”
Meanwhile, the Kaapse span will be looking to give some of their Junior Springbok squad members, who recently won the Under-20 World Championships, a run against Griquas.
South African U20 captain, Riley Norton, is likely to feature in the matchday squad that coach Labeeb Levy will announce later on today.
