THE Blitzboks don’t have time for speletjies at the Cape Town SVNS this weekend.

There is simply no room for error with the new tournament format at Cape Town Stadium.

With eight teams divided in two pools, the top two in each pool will go through to the semi-finals.

Hosts South Africa kick off their tournament at 12.44pm tomorrow when they tackle big guns Fiji in Pool A.

Captain Impi Visser and his manskappe then tackle New Zealand in what is always a mouthwatering affair innie Mother City with a vrag Kapenaars supporting the All Blacks.

That match kicks off at 4pm. South Africa then end the first day at 7.41pm against Great Britain.

Sunday is finals day, with the grand final kicking off at 4.43pm.

The first match of the tournament kicks off at 10am tomorrow, when Japan’s women tackle their Canadian counterparts.

Blitzbok coach Philip Snyman says his manne musn’t let the pressure get to them ahead of tomorrow’s big matches.

Snyman, whose manne won the event last year, said: “Cape Town will always be a tournament we target. Winning last year was a massive high for us.”

Of their gevaarlike pool opponents, the 38-year-old added: “A team like Fiji is always successful in Hong Kong. New Zealand always performs well. So, we need to find a way this season, but one thing you can’t do is put unnecessary pressure on yourself.”

Visser added: “Winning [in Cape Town] last year was such a great feeling and we are determined to experience that again.

“The new format makes every match a must win and that adds to the pressure. Our confidence remains high that we can go out and defend our title, but we are fully aware of what it will demand from us. We are ready for that.”

Meanwhile, uncapped utility backline player Nabo Sokoyi has been included in the Springbok Sevens squad for the Cape Town SVNS.
