CAPE Town and the Stormers will welcome back two-time World Cup-winning Springbok captain Siya Kolisi at the end of the season.

The 34-year-old Kolisi will make his return in July 2026 and fulfill an important role mentoring the next generation as the franchise continues to build the squad’s depth and maturity as part of Project 2029.

The move will allow Kolisi to be closer to his family and also make a meaningful contribution to the span where it all started for him after leaving school.

The iconic leader’s professional rugby journey started innie Kaap after he left school and he is now poised to add to his 118 Stormers caps.

Having made his debut in 2012, Kolisi was appointed captain in 2017 and left the Mother City for the Sharks in 2021.

Of his return, Kolisi said: “I have such incredible memories of my time at the Stormers, the way I was embraced by the fans in my formative years has never left me.

“My family is in Cape Town and it is important to me to be close to them. This move gives me the chance to do that while also giving back to the team and fans who made such a big contribution to the player and person I am today.

“I am looking forward to contributing in any way I can to the future success and happiness of this special club and its incredible supporters.”
