THERE is no place like the Mother City.
Just ask Stormers utility back Wandisile Simelane who has signed a new contract with the franchise that will see him play innie Kaap until at least 2028.
The 27-year-old former Jeppe’s scholar arrived at Cape Town Stadium in 2022 after cutting his teeth in Johannesburg with the Lions.
And after signing a new deal for the United Rugby Championship leaders ahead of their clash with the Sharks at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday, Simelane said: “There are plenty of top players in this squad and the overall environment has challenged me while also allowing me to express myself.
“I’ve got no doubt that this is the best place for me and I just want to do everything I can to help the club succeed.”
Coach John Dobson added: “Wandi’s growth since joining us has been phenomenal.
“He is a naturally gifted athlete and footballer, but what has impressed us the most is the way he has applied himself to improve all areas.
“He is surrounded by many talented players in our backline and has made some telling contributions within our environment both on the field and in our preparations. We are looking forward to seeing where he can go from here.”
