The Blitzbokke beat France 21-12 in the final of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens in Vancouver, Canada on Sunday (Monday SA time).
For the third match in a row, the Blitzbokke conceded early when Pierre-Gilles Lakafia crossed the SA whitewash in the 3rd minute.
However, that was to be the only French try of the first half as the South Africans sprung to life in running in converted five-pointers from Impie Visser and Werner Kok to lead 14-5 at the break.
The second period was a tight affair, with Selvyn Davids, who was named Player of the Final, dotting down with France getting their second and final try from Stephen Parez.
The win was a memorable one for the Blitzbokke in their first World Rugby Sevens final against the French. To date, it has been an inconsistent season for the men in green.
Earlier, a brace of tries by Muller du Plessis, plus five pointers by Stedman Gans, Justin Geduld and Davids, saw the Blitzbokke to a 31-12 win over Fiji in their semifinal match.
The next leg of the sevens circuit will take place in Singapore from April 13-14.
