After a heartbreaking defeat to the All Blacks at Loftus on Saturday night, we rate the Springbok players' performance:
15. Willie le Roux - 7.5
Made a good break to set up the Boks’ first try and proved that he is the man to wear the No.15 for the national team at next year’s World Cup.
14. Cheslin Kolbe - 6.5
Did well to dot down for his try and showed some courage on defence.
13. Jesse Kriel - 7.5
Was rewarded with a try after a good outing at outside centre. One of his best-attacking performances of the year.
12. Damian de Allende - 6.5
Got a touchdown, but looked tired on defence at the end of the match and missed a few tackles. Made a total of 12 ball carries.
11. Aphiwe Dyantyi - 6
Had difficulty under the high ball and defending the kick-chase. But showed some nice touches on attack.
10. Handre Pollard - 7
Good game management and again manned up on defence.
9. Faf de Klerk - 6.5
Did well to put pressure on his opposite number, but missed three tackles in total.
8. Francois Louw - 6
Had an okay outing, but not the answer in the Bok No.8 jersey.
7. Pieter-Steph du Toit - 7
Made good metres and had a busy afternoon with ball in hand, carrying it 10 times.
6. Siya Kolisi - 8.5
Our Man of the Match, Kolisi offloaded well to De Allende after making a break to set up the latter’s try. He also made the most tackles (12) in the team.
5. Franco Mostert - 6
Always involved, Mostert is doing the donkey work in the team.
4. Eben Etzebeth - 6
Didn’t have a big impact with his ball carries, averaging 1.2m per run. But did his job at ruck time.
3. Frans Malherbe - 6
Not as influential as he was in Port Elizabeth against Australia.
2. Malcolm Marx - 7.5
The official Man of the Match, Marx played the type of game we all expect to see of him – busy in all departments.
1. Steven Kitshoff - 6
His six ball-carries didn’t get the Boks over the advantage line as much as he would have liked. But a decent allround performance.
