Western Province coach John Dobson is understandably a wanted man after his heroics in the Currie Cup over the past two years.
Having been linked with the vacant position at the Bulls after John Mitchell’s departure, Dobson commented on his future at yesterday’s WP press conference ahead of Saturday’s semifinal against the Blue Bulls at Newlands.
And he says: “I’d like to be part of something special here.
“I think over the next three or four years, if you look at next year’s Super Rugby squad, it’s a fantastic squad.
“This Currie Cup squad; for a long time we were without eight forwards.
“If you look at this team on paper before the start of this campaign and we’ve got a great reputation now, [but] with respect, Kobus van Dyk, Ernst van Rhyn, Herschel Jantjies, Dan Kriel, Josh Stander and Paul de Wet [weren’t household names]
“That’s our team and it’s helluva rewarding to build that and I’d like to keep working with that. We probably can achieve more at this union over the next few years than we have in the last couple of years and I would like to be part of that.”
