KAPENAARS have been deprived this year of watching their beloved Stormers play at Cape Town Stadium.
In fact, coach John Dobson’s span has only taken the field only once in the United Rugby Championship at Cape Town Stadium in 2025 and that was ook ‘n bitter saak when they lost 33-32 to the Bulls in February.
Currently in 10th place on 35 points - one point behind Edinburgh in eighth place, the final knockout spot - the Stormers have four round-robin matches left to play this season.
The good news for the team and for its supporters is that all of them will be played innie Kaap.
While the odds are stacked against them, assistant coach Norman Laker says the Stormers will continue to jigga met die ball.
Asked if they will change their approach as they look to squeeze into the playoffs, Laker says: “We will keep playing like we played the whole season, we were quite unlucky [in some of the games]…
“We will stick to who we are and the brand of rugby that we’re playing must take us home.”
The Stormers will still be without injured flyhalf Manie Libbok, while they are sweating on the availability of winger Seabelo Senatla.
He has recovered from injury, but is battling illness. Lock JD Schickerling is another player who has recovered from injury and should be ready to take the field against Irish visitors Connacht this weekend.
