KAPENAAR Fadlu Davids wants to end Stellenbosch FC’s African dream.
Davids, who started his playing career at Mother City in Cape Town and went on to play for Manning Rangers, Santos and Vasco da Gama before ending his playing career at Maritzburg United in 2012, is now the head coach of Simba FC from Tanzania.
A former Orlando Pirates assistant coach, the 43-year-old has a 1-0 buffer on Stellies ahead of Sunday’s 3pm Caf Confederation Cup semi-final.

The Kapenaar now wants to finish the job at the Moses Mabhida Stadium and is quoted by Soccer Laduma as saying of coach Steve Barker’s Stellies: “We’re going into the second leg with only one objective; get an early goal and finish the job. We will not play defensively.
“We will not play with fear. We are not going there to settle for a draw. We want to win.”
Elsewhere, the Caf Champions League semi-finals remain delicately poised, with both ties offering everything but goals in tightly contested first legs. As Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates prepare for crucial away fixtures in Egypt, the door to the final remains wide open for both South African clubs.
Sundowns will be aiming to book a place in their second-ever Champions League final when they take on defending champions Al Ahly at Cairo International Stadium today (6pm kickoff). Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates face a stern test against Pyramids FC at the 30 June Stadium, with their clash scheduled for 8pm.
