NICK FEINBERG: BIGGEST TEAM IN LONDON?

HELLO my good football people… I trust all is well with you! We keep thinking the season is over, but the further down the line we go, the more likely it is that football (including English clubs) will eventually be all year round.

Elsewhere, as the transfer market gets going, I’ve been debating Liam Delap to Chelsea, with a number of Blues fans who are disappointed.

But £30 million in this day and age is a steal for a player who has proven to be equipped for the Premier League and is very decent.

I remember him absolutely bullying Chelsea this season. He is young, tough and plays hard.

I reckon he’ll make the step up quite easily, receive more chances and prove to be a winner.

“But why are we going for mid players, what about Victor Osimhen?” Firstly, don’t use that word “mid”, it’s not in the football language manual and secondly, have you really studied Osimhen or are you just repeating a social-media driven debate?

He is a decent striker in a second tier league and was a complete flop at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

He has never played in the Premier League. I’d take Delap all day over him. Not sure why I get so triggered by these damn Twitter fans?

That’s all for now folks…

Chat next week, bye bye.

HELLO my good football people… I trust all is well with you! We keep thinking the season is over, but the further down the line we go, the more likely it is that football (including English clubs) will eventually be all year round.

I mean we’ve just had the Champions League final, but in 12 days’ time the Club World Cup starts!

For me, as much as I really miss football during the close-season, these weeks and months should be for players to recuperate, rest and spend time with family and friends.

Top-flight sport takes a huge emotional and physical toll on players and it doesn’t feel right that Fifa push this largely unrecognised tournament in the “off-season”.

But hey, it’s on, and we’ll keep an eye on it as Chelsea, Manchester City and Mamelodi Sundowns are ‘“competing” from next Sunday. There is a lot of money at stake, which will probably mean competitive football as we move through the stages (the eventual winner receives $125 million).

Meanwhile, it was great to see Enzo Maresca end the season ahead of schedule. Champions League qualification was the target, but grabbing a trophy as well was a bonus.

It’s a s**t cup, but Chelsea completed the set… they are the only club in England to have won everything in football!

It was great for the youngsters and will help in building experience and character. I have to say, the Blues were getting slaughtered in the first half, but switched gears in the second and ran away with it.

The debate rages on, well two actually. Firstly, have Newcastle, Chelsea and Spurs had better seasons than Arsenal?

I’d say yes. All three got Champions League qualification and a trophy, even if Spurs ended up 17th as opposed to Arsenal (second).

But I guess it’s all about criteria. Would you want to watch your team lose 22 times in a season? Spurs fans will take the losses any day for what they’ve achieved.

Then the question is… who is the biggest team in London? Again, criteria? Fan base size, silverware or European success?

Do you remember that game Top Trumps? When cards are laid in the middle, the highest card trumps the rest and wins.  Well, that feels a bit like where London football clubs are at. Chelsea’s two Champions Leagues trump the debate?

Anyhow… on to the Champions League final and what the f**k happened there? Seriously, two of the best sides in Europe on the biggest stage serving up a story like that?

It was absolutely unbelievable... Paris Saint-Germain were simply fitter, quicker, sharper and “more up for it” in every part of the pitch for 90 minutes. I struggle to remember any real period of attack by Inter Milan.

The Maldinis of this world must have been watching in horror. A nation that has always prided itself on solid defensive structure, ripped apart by a bunch of buzzing boys… scoring for fun.

It could have been 6-0 or 7-0 quite easily! Unbelievable stuff. It made for a really k*k final.
