RYAN Cherki is the real deal, according to ex-Manchester City players who saw the Frenchman in action for the Citizens at the Club World Cup.

The 21-year-old who arrived from Lyon ahead of the tournament in the US, showed gevaarlike skill and superb finishing ability to klap in the 89th minute of their 6-0 destruction of Al Ain on Monday.

City, who face Juventus in their final group match tomorrow night, have already qualified for the playoffs and former striker Paul Dickov reckons he will be a handful for defenders when the Premier League kicks off in August.

Dickov is quoted by the club’s website saying: “I think that’s why players like Cherki have been brought in against tight blocks.

“When you play in the Premier League against tight blocks, he’s unpredictable in what he’s going to do. In a flash, he’s got a little bit of skill that’s going to open up defences.

“At times in the last couple of years we’ve struggled to do that, but he’s got that little bit of gold dust, that little bit of magic.

“For him to come him and connect with his team-mates so early, doing it already, going forward it’s super exciting.”
