ARSENAL have not beaten Liverpool in their 12 previous Premier League visits to Anfield.
Come Sunday 5.30pm when last season’s two top teams lock horns in the third match of the season, former Manchester United defender Gary Neville reckons it will be last term’s runners-up that will make it a lucky No.13.
Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta was still a Gunners player the last time they beat the Reds at Anfield in the league – back in 2012.
They have since played 12 matches, with five ending in a draw and Liverpool winning seven.
Entering Sunday’s big clash, Arsenal and Liverpool are two of only three teams with perfect records after the first two games – the other being second-placed Tottenham Hotspur.
Neville believes the visitors will remain in pole position, saying in response to ex-Red Jamie Carragher predicting a 2-1 win for the Reds on The Overlap podcast: “I fancy Arsenal to win. I’m going to let him [Carragher] pick the score, but I think Arsenal will win.
“Arsenal to score two from set-pieces. It will be land of the giants with Arsenal on Sunday.
“He [Arteta] will go with [Mikel] Merino, [Declan] Rice, [Martin] Zubimendi, then [Eberechi] Eze or [Leandro] Trossard, but he’ll have the big back four, four or five in the box and they’ll score from set-pieces.
“I think Arsenal will score two from set-pieces, Liverpool will score one and it will be 2-1 to Arsenal.”
Arsenal beat Manchester United 1-0 at Old Trafford in their opener, before klapping Leeds 5-0 last weekend.
Liverpool, meanwhile, beat Bournemouth 4-2, then scored a last-minute winner to beat Newcastle 3-2 away from home on Monday.
