NOT SAYING NO: Jurgen Klopp

FORMER Liverpool baas Jurgen Klopp says a return to Anfield is “theoretically possible” but he remains committed to his current role as Red Bull’s head of global soccer.
Speaking on The Diary of a CEO podcast, the 58-year-old German wysed: “I said I will never coach a different team in England so that means if [I go back], then it’s Liverpool. So yeah, theoretically it’s possible.”
Klopp stepped down in 2024 after nine trophy-laden years, including Champions League and Premier League titles.
He added: “I love what I do now. I don’t miss coaching. I do coach but it’s just different, it’s not players.
“I don’t miss standing in the rain for two-and-a-half or three hours. I also don’t miss going to press conferences three times a week ... I don’t miss being in the dressing-room... I’m 58. From your perspective that might be old, but from other perspectives, it’s not that old. That means I could make a decision in a few years. I don’t know.”
Klopp backed Liverpool’s current squad, highlighting close-season signings Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike as kwaai talents. He said: “Wirtz, you all will eat your words if you use the wrong words. He’s an incredible talent. Ekitike, incredible player. Just the offensive players... it’s a really, really good squad.
“So you don’t have to worry about Liverpool, they will be fine.”
Despite a tough start for the Reds – Wirtz and fellow new arrival Alexander Isak have both sukkeled – Ekitike has impressed with five goals in 11 appearances.
Liverpool’s Champions League clash at 9pm on Wednesday against Eintracht Frankfurt, who have conceded 18 goals in five games, may offer a chance to revive their form.
Wednesday's Champions League fixtures:
Athletic Club v Qarabag, Galatasaray v Bodo/Glimt (both 6.45pm), Chelsea v Ajax, Real v Juventus, Sporting v Marseille, Monaco v Spurs, Atalanta v Slavia Praha, Bayern v Club Brugge (all 9pm)
