ARSENAL have the chance to open up a seven-point lead over Manchester City at the top of the Premier League with victory over bottom-of-the-table Wolves at 10pm on Wednesday.
Mikel Arteta’s manne are closing in on a first league title for 22 years and could even make history as they remain in contention for an unprecedented quadruple.
Arsenal face City in the League Cup final next month, will travel to League One Mansfield in the FA Cup fifth round and cruised into the Champions League last 16 with a 100 percent record.
Arteta wysed: “The position we are in is a privilege and we take it and because we have earned it.
“Seven-and-a-half months is a long time to every single day do the right things and perform at the level we are performing. We need to embrace that.”
Martin Odegaard and Kai Havertz will miss the trip to Molineux, but Arteta is hopeful both could be fit for Sunday’s north London derby away to Tottenham.
Defenders Riccardo Calafiori and Ben White are available tonight after injury scares against Wigan.
Meanwhile, Bukayo Saka has committed his long-term future to Arsenal by signing a nuwe five-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2031, according to reports.
Sources told BBC Sport that the deal makes the England winger the highest-paid player at the club, earning more than £300 000 (R6.5 million) per week.
Negotiations had been underway for almost a year, with Saka verbally agreeing to the extension in January.
Although he signed a previous contract in 2023 that ran until 2027, this renewal secures his prime years for the Gunners and underlines the club’s determination to retain their core talent.
The agreement provides a significant lift for Arsenal as they pursue major honours for the first time since 2020.
It also reflects a broader strategy of tying key players to long-term deals, following similar commitments from William Saliba, Gabriel, Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly last year.
Saka has scored seven goals in 33 games this season and remains central to Arsenal’s ambitions.
His deep connection with supporters and rise from the academy make him irreplaceable.
