WITH only 13 points out of a possible 24 in the Premier League since the start of 2026, leaders Arsenal have seen their “grip” on a possible first title since 2003-04 slip away.

The Gunners’ latest setback was on Wednesday when they let slip a two-goal lead against bottom-club Wolves to draw 2-2.

That draw meant they now only have a five-point gap on Manchester City, who have a game in hand.

The two teams are set to meet at the Etihad Stadium on 18 April, meaning that if coach Pep Guardiola’s men win their 12 remaining games – including the one against the Gunners – they will be crowned champions.

Both teams will have their sights set on this weekend, when Arsenal travel to arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur at 6.30pm on Sunday, while City welcome Newcastle at 10pm on Saturday.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta knows it’s “squeaky-bum time” and said after the Wolves draw: “Incredibly disappointed. We need to accept it. We need to be critical of ourselves because it was not good enough.

“In the league, it is the reality that we have not been consistent over the last few months.”

Having wasted commanding leads in two previous title fights with City, Arteta’s manne are in danger of being haunted by the ghost of their past failures.

Arteta added: “You have to go through tough periods. Today [Wednesday] at the last minute, we paid the price. We have to do basic things much better than we have done.”

The Gunners’ frustration boiled over at the final whistle, with David Raya and Gabriel exchanging heated words.

But they will have to pull themselves together vinnig if they are to be crowned champions at the end of the season.
