CAPE Town City are diep innie moeilikheid in the Premiership following Sunday’s 0-0 draw with SuperSport United.
The result means they are in 14th place on the standings, just two points above the relegation zone after 24 matches.
The real problem for stand-in coach Diogo Peral is that SuperSport United in 15th place have two games in hand , meaning one victory will see them leapfrog the Kapenaars who will then join Royal AM in the drop zone.
With fifth-placed Sekhukhune United coming to town on Sunday, Peral is quoted by SuperSport as saying of City’s current predicament: “It’s not just for me.
“None of us want be in the NFD next season, so it’s a big responsibility for the players to step up… a big responsibility for the entire technical team.
“This is not a one man show, big responsibility to everyone at the club. Two coaches have gone [this season], we’re the ones that were here through the whole thing, so now we need to fix it.”
The Cape’s other PSL team Stellenbosch FC are in third place on the log ahead of their Caf Confederation Cup quarter-final match with Zamalek at Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday.
While Stellies are flying high, Cape Town’s other big team Cape Town Spurs are diep innie moeilikheid in 15th place in the Motsepe Foundation Championship with 23 points from 23 matches.
