Raheem Sterling has congratulated Callum Hudson-Odoi on his rapid rise to the senior England squad by pointing out that the Chelsea youngster isn’t even verified on Twitter yet.
Hudson-Odoi was promoted from the Under 21s on Monday after Luke Shaw, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Fabian Delph and John Stones pulled out through injury ahead of Friday night’s Euro qualifier against Czech Republic.
And after Hudson-Odoi, 18, tweeted: “Buzzing to get my first England senior call up!!!
“Proud day for me and my family, the hard work continues”, Sterling replied: “Not even Twitter certified and already called up... what a life you’re living bro”.
Speaking after he was moved up from the U21 squad, Hudson-Odoi says he thought manager Aidy Boothroyd was joking when he told him the news.
Hudson-Odoi explains: “It’s been a crazy day but getting my first international call-up is an amazing feeling.

“I thought Aidy Boothroyd was joking.
“I was shocked and then when I heard that I actually had to go over, I couldn’t believe it. I was delighted.
“Now I’ve got to work hard, enjoy every moment and work to make an impact when I get the opportunity.”
