On Friday, Calvin November, 58, made a brief appearance at the Athlone Magistrates’ Court where he faced charges of the illegal possession of ammunition and drugs.
November is the father of Shasha-Lee November, who disappeared on 3 May 2015 while playing outside her Groenal Walk home in Hanover Park.
When November was asked how he would be pleading, he pleaded guilty.
He was granted a R2 000 fine or two months in prison and will remain in custody until the amount is paid.
November was caught on Wednesday moments before a vigil was held for his daughter in Groenal Walk.
But provincial police confirmed the arrest took place only on Thursday.
Police sources also say November is a suspected member of a gang and is no stranger to the law.
On Wednesday hundreds attended the vigil.

Last week, Shasha-Lee’s mother, Sandra November, said the family had sleepless nights, hoping she would return home.
Her dad made an appeal in the newspaper, calling for his child’s safe return before his arrest.
The Grade 1 Belmore Primary School pupil was dressed in a white shorts and T-shirt and green slippers when she vanished.
She had a burn mark on one of her cheeks.
Sandra suffered a stroke after her child went missing.
