A young mother has been viciously stabbed to death – allegedly by her jealous boyfriend – in front of their two-year-old child.
Ruchian Lawak, 28, was found with multiple knife wounds in the doorway of her Scottsdene Rental Estate home in Kraaifontein on Wednesday evening.
Family spokesperson Niklaas Koopman told the Daily Voice Ruchian had planned to break up with her abusive 29-year-old boyfriend, who has been arrested for the murder.
“The whole thing happened because she wanted to end the relationship between them,” he explains.
“When I went there last night, she was lying on the paving outside the flat.
“Her mother Joan said that the door was open and [the suspect] had just walked in to where she was lying on the bed with her daughter.
“She told her mother that she had a headache after she came from her work.
“He walked straight up to her and stabbed her. Ruchain shouted ‘please come here, mommy, [the suspect] has stabbed me.
“Before she walked out by the backdoor, she gave her daughter to her mother.
“Ruchain’s brother tried to grab the knife from [the suspect].
“When we got here, there were a few stabs wounds on her left side near her heart.
“It looked like five stab wounds.”
The family claims her boyfriend had been abusing Ruchain for a long time.
Niklaas adds: “A few weeks backs he was sending her photos and voicenotes saying he would end his life. He was very jealous of her.
“Ruchain was a lovely lady with a beautiful personality and smile. We are going to miss her greatly.”
