Officers responded to the smash-and-grab incident at the intersection of Prince George Drive and Military Road in Steenberg on Friday, where a group of men had smashed the window of a vehicle and grabbed boxes of marshmallows and made a run for it.
The officers gave chase and the skelms got bang and dropped the boxes along with the dagga.
Cops confiscated the goods and caught the suspects nearby.
STICK IT OUT: Thugs
Inspector Wayne Dyason, spokesman for Law Enforcement, says because the suspects were not found in possession of the drugs and sweets, they could not be charged.
“Law Enforcement officers reacted to a report of a smash-and-grab that had taken place at the corner of Prince George Drive and Military Road Steenberg,” he says.
“This intersection is notorious for smash-and-grabs incidents. Sweet toothed criminals had taken boxes of marshmallows from a vehicle after breaking a window.
“Swift reaction resulted in the officers catching them near the scene of the incident.
“The marshmallows were recovered and officers also recovered 30 dagga stoppe in close proximity to the suspects but could not link it to them.
“No charges were laid so the suspects were released after being
profiled.”
