Alleged wife killer, Abdul Salam, will remain in Pollsmoor Prison as the investigation into the death of his wife continues.
The Bangladeshi national is accused of viciously stabbing his wife Miché Samuels, 30, to death while she was driving with their one-year-old daughter on the backseat.
She crashed into another motorist as she was attacked.
Salam returned to the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court yesterday where he was informed that the matter had been postponed.
Salam, 39, was arrested after the shocking incident on Ottery Road on 4 March after angry mense caught him as he tried to escape, leaving Miché dead behind the steering wheel.
At the time it was revealed that cops had discovered divorce papers in the boot of her red Fiat Palio.
Police told the Daily Voice that Salam threw the knife away on a nearby sports field and cops confiscated his bloody T-shirt as it would be used as evidence.
Miché’s heartbroken family explained the couple had been married for seven years and had three children together.
They said Salam could not find work in South Africa and he also became jealous of his wife and forced her to leave her job and smashed her cellphones and sim cards in fits of rage.
He also isolated her from her family after they had raised concerns about his plans to take his wife and children away to Bangladesh.
Salam has opted not to apply for bail and returned to the mang on Wednesday.
NPA spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila says: “Abdul Salam appeared at the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court where is charged with murder of Miché Samuels.
“His case has been postponed till 9 June for further investigation.”
Stepdad Daniel Beck, 65, says the couple’s young children are now living with their grandparents.
He says the couple’s two sons aged five and seven are still heavily traumatised after losing their mother and seeing their father locked up.
“They are still very hartseer but are doing well. We will be raising them now,“ Daniel tells the Daily Voice.
“We are just disappointed that nobody helped with grief counselling for them.
“We are doing our best but I worry about them not getting counselling."
