The battered body of a Kalksteenfontein man was found dumped in a ditch near the railway line in Bonteheuwel on Tuesday.
According to a source, commuters on their way to the train station got a skrik when they saw the dead man lying in the ditch near Borriehout Street.
“He was found with head injuries and it looks like he was beaten very badly. There was so much blood you couldn’t even see his face,” says the source.
“The community called the police. He was in the ditch by the railway line where they are busy erecting a fence. It is not clear what led up to this and no proof that he was stealing anything because there is nothing to steal there.
“But people came from Kalksteenfontein and said they know him.”
Police spokesperson,
Constable Wesley Twigg,
confirms the incident and says the body of the 24-year-old man was found at 8.15am.
“No arrests were made and the investigation continues,” he says.
Meanwhile, three skollies were hospitalised on Monday night after a shooting in Bonteheuwel Avenue after 6pm.
According to a source, the Playboys and Hard Livings gang members opened fire on each other and three HLs were hit.
Twigg says a case of attempted murder was opened and no arrests have been made.
