It’s just past the halfway mark of Ramadaan and Muslims are looking forward to Eid.
It’s a time to celebrate and spoil each other with fancy food and fashion.
But instead of heading to larney shopping malls and splashing out on big-name brands, these mense decided to go for the “local is lekker” approach.
Local designers and dressmakers from the Muslim community were given an opportunity to showcase their creations at the Pop-up pre-Eid Market held at the Bo-Kaap Cultural Cafe in Rose Street, Bo-Kaap over the weekend.
On display were beautifully-made stylish scarves and colourful eye-catching dresses.
The pop-up market was created by Kader Miller, who says the market gives small, home businesses and up-and-coming designers exposure and a place to trade.
The market will be open again next weekend.
