The Western Cape Sport School celebrated its 10th anniversary with a lekker carnival this weekend and hundreds of people came to share in the fun.
The festivities took place over two days - Friday and Saturday - at the school on Nooiensfontein Road in Kuils River.
A highlight of the festival was the crowning of Miss and Mr WP Sport School on Friday night.
Tyler Lombard was crowned the carnival queen with Chloe Wyngaard as first princess and Alexus Petersen as second princess.
The girls were sassy and while the crowd cheered for their favourites, the judges had a difficult task choosing the winners.
The ouens also strutted their stuff and Kian Matthee walked off with the title while Aiden Hignett and Ikhona Betela were the runners-up.
For the adrenalin junkies there were fun rides, and while a few brave ones dared to tackle the fast and furious machines, most onlookers were munching on hot mielies and other delicious foods while watching the spectacle.
Funny man Wayne McKay was the MC for the night, but it was comedian Waseef Piekaan who stole show when he stepped onto the stage, and had the audience holding onto their bellies with laughter while belting out a few songs to the crowd’s delight.
Carnival goers were also treated to singer Nur Abrahams’ velvet voice and he took the mature crowd down memory lane with his old-school music.
Former Idols winner, Karin Kortje also had mense begging for more.
On Saturday night, the mense went bos for Loukmaan Adams and rapper YoungstaCPT.
The show ended with the cherry on the cake as The Rockets had young and old on their feet with their live band.
