R&B singer Claire Phillips is releasing her new single called Champion on Saturday with a live online show.
Claire tells the Daily Voice that she is amped to finally be hosting her own online show as some of the proceeds goes towards building a safe house for women and children run by community worker Lucinda Evans.
Claire says she wants to use her voice to elevate people: “I don’t believe anything in my life happened without purpose and we as musicians shouldn’t just use our platform for self-gratification, but use it to do good.”
The first single off her third album - which hasn’t been named yet - will be released during her live show and she is excited.
The song was penned by Claire and features YoungstaCPT.

Last year she went on an inspirational tour of Cape Flats schools, chatting to laaities about life.
NEW SINGLE: Claire’s concert
“After each session, I would have one on one talks where these kids were given the opportunity to speak their truth without judgement.
“In all of these conversations, two words would weave it’s way into the uncertainty of the words that completed sentences - “self worth”.
Claire says she uses her own life as a testimony: “I’m the poster child for statistics, I have battled with drug addiction, been molested, raped, self-harmed, had multiple suicide attempts and endured emotional abuse.
“Hitting rock bottom was never the plan, but when everything around you looks like it’s out to destroy you it’s very difficult to see light or even to acknowledge that there are others going through the same traumatic experiences.”
Tickets to the show cost R50 via Quicket and will be livestreamed from Pennylane Studios on Saturday at 8pm.
