It didn’t take long for Irma G to land on her feet.
For those who were wondering what happened to the popular radio show host, the Mitchells Plain presenter has joined Radio 2000 and kicked off her brand-new weekend gig.
Irma broke the news on her social media platforms, writing: "This weekend marks a new start for me on my journey. Weekend Flavor 6 to 9am on @radio2000za goes live and to say I am excited is an understatement! Tune in on @dstvza audio bouquet 812! #radiohead #radiothings #musicislife.”
Before joining the national station, Irma, who has been in the broadcasting business for 23 years, had spent the past nine years at HeartFM before her contract came to an end in February.
SABC Acting Spokesperson Mmoni Seapolelo confirmed the move: “The SABC can confirm that Radio 2000 made significant changes to its line-up.
“Veteran radio and club DJ Irma G will host the Weekend Flavour on Saturdays and Sundays 6am-9am.”
Irma tells Daily Voice: “I am very excited to join the Radio 2000 family. My new show is weekends 6am to 9am, Weekend Flavour with Irma G, covering some interesting topics and of course highlighting the music, particularly our South African artists.”
Radio 2000 unveiled a new line-up and introduced Bongani Mtolo, who will take over the reins as the new host of the breakfast show, The Take Off, between 6am and 9am weekdays.
Carol Ofori will host the Queens of Grace weekdays 9am-12pm, while David Mashabela takes over from Ntombi Phiri on the The Royal Playground, weekdays 12pm-3pm.
Sydney Baloyi also joins the station as the host of the Golden Classics on Fridays at 7.30pm-10pm.
Muvhango Masindi moves to the weekend and will introduce the listeners to his new show, The Groove Connection, hosted on Saturdays between 6pm-9pm.
These changes are as a result of Bongani Nxumalo’s resignation.
