If you heard some changes on your radio this week, you didn’t verbeel yourself.
Heart 104.9 FM has undergone a shuffle and some of the show hosts have been moved around to different slots.
The radio station management is to announce the reshuffle this week, but the Daily Voice got a voorbarige smaakie ahead of the big reveals.
From this morning, Heart FM Breakfast show listeners will learn that Julian Naidoo is rebranding himself as Julian Cranford.
DJ Willy – formerly of Good Hope FM – joins Heart from 1 April as a music compiler, while Suga gets an extra show on a Sunday.
Jo-Dee Butler heads up the 2-6pm slot on Saturday afternoon, called the B-side with Butler.
Jeremy Harris’ sports show extends to two hours – from 6-10am – including the two-hour Super Saturday Sports Show from 8am.
undefinedLuwayne Bouwers joins the team for the Friday into Saturday slot from 10pm to 1am on the Weekend Wonder.
Denver Apollus, head of Radio Innovation, says: “We make changes when we feel a refresh is needed and in line with the responses we get from our audience.
Denver adds: “We’ve decided to bolster our Sunday line-up with the addition of Suga between 2pm and 6pm. This is in addition to Suga’s weekday slot 9am to noon.”
He says Heart recruited industry professional in Wilfred Hendricks, aka DJ Willy, as music compiler “to apply his craft and trade to our brand”.
“Willy will also feature on air with his regular mixes, but his core role at the station is to manage our music architecture.”
Programme Manager Vernon Nel says the changes will “bring a fresh sound to our weekends”.
MD Renee Redelinghuys adds: “We are excited to be making a few tweaks to the brand and wish the teams well in these news slots. Our fiercely loyal audience appreciate it when we freshen up our sound and we will continue to keep them excited and energized about our brand.”
